I downloaded this marketprofile indicator from tradestation's forum sometime ago (TPO Pro5.0b). It works reasonable well. I am wanting to know if its possible to change the tick value so that the profile is horizontally compressed on days when there is an abnormally large range? Any help would be appreciated.
thanks!
ps: if you are aware of a better marketprofile for tradestation i would be eager to hear.
There is a compression setting on this indicator I believe. Its in the inputs. The larger the number the less compressed. You can also use this indicator on a 1 minute chart and then hide the price info and then zoom in and out as a compression adjustment.
The problem with Solidus' indicator is it only works on the current day as it gets its data from the matrix. If you want to look at past profiles it won't do the job.
The TS links are to a indicator someone developed that plots a volume histogram similar to the market profile for the current day's session only. It does not plot value area highs and lows but indicates 1 and 2 standard deviations above and below the volume point of control. Its nice because it is free but for someone serious about market profile or volume profile it isn't enough on its own.
I never used either myself so I don't know really and haven't looked to see how they are setup. I think he made some improvements recently so maybe some of that has been addressed ?
That being said, as you probably know as well TS' data feed doesn't work well for MD anyway because of thier data feed. Just wanted mention this, it has something to do with bundling ticks and/or optimisation.
Yeah, I'm not 100% sure but I think that Solidus histogram thing might only work with the latest version of Tradestation...which means that since they changed the language it is not compatible with MC because they use the old language.
You might have to double check that or maybe @Big Mike can shed some light on this.
