My question is to the serious backtesters out there. Can anyone tell if upgrading from a basic 4 gig laptop to one of the high end laptops that gamers use with 12-24 gigs of ram and 3+ ghz processors such as Alienware makes has made a big dent in the speed for your backtesting and optimizing in Ninja? I format my trading and testing laptop about every 4-5 months and use a Dell which is easy to reinstall all the drivers from there website. It keeps it running smooth and as fast as a 4 gig can run.
As I am typing this I have my strategy optimizer going and it says I have 10 hours left for it to finish on one of my new strategies, yes I know all about the generic setting but I find much more accurate results not using it. I am just wondering if I upgraded to a high end laptop If it would reduce the backtest time alot.
