In this new thread I would like to share my first experience of developing a strategy with MultiCharts. I am completelly new to MultiCharts and everyone who want to have a look at this platform is welcome to join this thread.
The strategy ideas will be based on the thread „ The Hurley Method (automated) ( (Elite cirlce), a strategy which is developed on the NinjaTrader platform.
During the last weeks more and more technical problems popped up while developing Hurley: Renko and other non time based chart types are not very well supported on the Ninja platform, the backtesting reliability for Renko is not good and many instabilities, system crashes and applicatoin freezes during market replay, optimization and backtesting occured.
This has led me to the idea of evaluating another technical platform. Finally MultiCharts seemed to be an interesting candidate for this.
My goals fort his thread are:
- Learning MultiCharts and EasyLanguage
- Porting Hurley strategy to MultiCharts in a continuous process, sharing my learning step-by-step
- Finding collegues who are interested in learning MultiCharts and developing a strategy together
- Evaluation of MultiCharts backtest and replay functionality and reliabilty, especially for non timebased chart types like Renko.
As stated before the trading strategy and rules are based on the Hurley strategy.
I would like to focus on:
- Simple Trend following approach
- Simple Price action, expressed by price driven charts (e.g. Renko)
- Strategy optimization by money management, optimal timezones (when to trade and when NOT to trade) and daily profit / loss goals to sharpen discipline and not to overtrade.
- Overall Simplicity
It would be great if you would join the thread and put in your ideas, code and strategy enhancements.
Best regards
aknip
(the strategy is called HugoHurley because I really don’t know a better name and because Hugo is Hurley’s real character name in the tv series LOST...)
