I have decided to start a trading journal. I am starting this trading journal to track my progress and adapt my overall trading behavior.
My discipline slipped today resulting in over trading, which is rare for me. The flipside to this is Ive noticed Im being too cautious when I should be pulling the trigger on my setups. I felt like I was missing out after yesterdays news run up and me being too hesitant over the past weeks have led to my aggressive over trading in this mornings session. Additionally, today I was feeling performance anxiety due to my consistency (The thoughts that were going through my head were youve been getting lucky. I know this is not the case.).
The instruments I will be trading will be the E-mini NQ and ES.
My trading will be focused on intraday action between 0530-0900 PST or 0830-1200EST. I will trade based upon price action along with a few indicators Elliot Wave Theory MACD oscillator, 200SMA, and 20SMA(none of these indicators have anything to do with my entries, but more or less serve as pros and cons to the methods.). The time/tick frames I will be using are 50 tick, 100 tick, 200 tick, 300tick, 400tick, 800 tick, 1 minute, 2minute, 5 minute, 10 minute, 15 minute, 30 minute, and 60 minute(My focus is primarily on the shorter time/tick frames but I consider the overall picture). The setups that I like to take are breakouts, double bottoms/double tops, working on momentum reversals, and many others. Lately Ive noticed more channels (Scalpish type of trades) and like trading those. In this journal I will list the pros and cons to each of my trades and my thinking and reasoning.
Update 7/12/2013: The strategies that I follow are methods that I have previous learned and strategies that I am currently studying under my Mentor Toni Hansen EMini, Stock, Bond, ETF - Toni Hansen Personal Online Trading Mentoring and Educational Resources (. If you have any questions please refer to the website. Additionally, there is a ton of free information.
