Welcome to Big Mike's Trading Forum.

Welcome, Guest!

This forum was established to help traders by openly sharing indicators, strategies, methods, trading journals and discussing the psychology of trading.

BMT is fundamentally different than most other trading forums:
  • We work extremely hard to keep things positive on our forums.
  • We do not tolerate rude behavior, trolling, or vendor advertising in posts.
  • We firmly believe in openness and encourage sharing. The holy grail is within you, it is not something tangible you can download.
  • We expect our members to participate and become a part of the community. Help yourself by helping others.

You'll need to register in order to view the content of the threads and start contributing to our community. It's free and simple, and we will never resell your private information.

I'm not ready for this contest, but I'd like to participate if you do this again. And if possible maybe we could have a bit more than 2 weeks notice.

Good luck to everyone!

I do it once a year or so and put it on the home page events section about 4 weeks ago.

Mike

Due to time constraints, please do not PM me if your question can be resolved or answered on the forum.

Need help?
1) Stop changing things. No new indicators, charts, or methods. Be consistent with what is in front of you first.
2) Start a journal and post to it daily with the trades you made to show your strengths and weaknesses.
3) Set goals for yourself to reach daily. Make them about how you trade, not how much money you make.
4) Accept responsibility for your actions. Stop looking elsewhere to explain away poor performance.
5) Where to start as a trader? Watch this webinar and read this thread for hundreds of questions and answers.

Maybe if it is not to much trouble, the admin could send an email when they are running another contest like this.
I am not sure of the logistics involved...just a thought.

;-)

Hey you all,

What about starting a journal without the contest?

;-)

(I know I deserve some real scolding after this one... OK, so who is going to hit me first?)

hi mike

is there a button on this page somewhere, that someone who is reading this thread feels compelled to post his/her own journal here as well;

that he/she could conveniently click to start the trading journal....?

or do they have to go out to some other page, to start and join this thread, please?

is there an easy way to install a click button somewhere on this page where it is easily noticeable and convenient to join the on going party, pls?

<the STOP FOLLOWING THIS THREAD button is conveniently placed and easily noticeable though, on the very top, left hand corner>

thx mike

Apology

Hi all,

I wanted to apologize for my previous cheeky post to all who felt offended by it...

Honestly, I must say I am the same. Without this contest, I might have still be found standing at the door (of trading journals) hesitating. It is not that I was far away from starting one. It is just that the contest gave me the necessary nudge and so I speeded up a couple of things (as can be seen from my first week of paper trading...).

For all that, I would like to encourage you to really start one no matter what.

I started one not because of the vision of any prize (well, I trade a market that does seem much less popular than all those US indices and stocks ) but only because I wanted to make the final step.

Since last week I have learned a lot. About market, about myself, about my relationship with (not "to" because it is really a two-way relationship) the market. It is an invaluable experience. Do not let the opportunity slip.
