For the last 10+ years, our community has existed with primarily a singular focus: help other traders in a positive and meaningful way.
I consider one of the best defining attributes of our community to be our positive attitude and the complete minimizaliation of negativity/trolling by being a well moderated community. With this moderation, we also endeavor to keep things highly organized making help easier to find for everyone.
There are many more things I could say, but instead of me speaking with a single voice for the entire community, I instead wanted to solicit your feedback directly.
So please help me out, and tell me in your own words:
1. How do you define the futures io trading community?
2. What makes us better or different?
3. Why do you spend your time in our community?
4. What is the biggest benefit you've received?
I intend to compile some of these responses into some marketing material. I look forward to your responses!
This is overall a pretty solid group of people. Knowledgeable, helpful, courteous. You do have some lost souls, some folks who Just Don’t Get It, but you’re going to have that everywhere and especially in this business.
Why do I spend time here? I like to journal and to read what others say about trading and the markets. Both have helped me in my development. The chat room is cool, sort of a forum within the forum.
Biggest benefit is just the sheer amount of useful knowledge that’s been imparted by other members, which has made me a better trader. There are a handful of threads that are just pure gold, they all have some age on them but if you’ve been on here a while you know which ones they are.
1. How do you define the futures io trading community?
Gathering place of "like minded" people. Or at least same objective goal = Being consistently profitable trader.
2. What makes us better or different?
Number of experienced traders, I kid you not I've come across lot of traders on this forum who have more trading experience than my age. Generally people who come to trading in my country that I know of are walking balls of ego's, I'm not saying here it is largely different but it is pleasantly surprising to see so many such a experienced traders sharing their experiences and are more than willing to engage in conversations with newbies like me.
3. Why do you spend your time in our community?
Point number 2 and I've had inspiration for lot of my ideas from here, I code my own indicators on TV and often I see conversations going on somewhere that indirectly helps in my process by making me aware of things I've never previously thought off. That happens quite a lot, more than I would like to admit it tbh
I've also developed habit of searching future.io first then google for info whenever I want to know about something new. For example; just couple of days ago I read about ACD method of Mark Fisher, FatTails who is one of the largest contributor here has made series of very informative posts in that thread. So much so that I didn't need to actually read the book or even google for it, he simply made logical arguments and later constructive improvements on the method and developed something new of his own. I took hints from it and ended up developing something of my own as well.
See the process here? Its difficult to put in better words for me, but without future.io that would've not happened, even if it did it would've been very long process which might have took me months as opposed to just 3 days in total.
4. What is the biggest benefit you've received?
Sharing of experience, ideas, process, problems and how they dealt with them in their journals from traders who have far more to brag about than me
