... The advantage of using Ninja is that you don't need a secondary application to place your orders.

MarketDelta and IRT now have integrated trading capability using MarketDelta Trader. Trader is the dedicated trading and order automation engine used to allow for chart trading and automated trading with IRT and MD. Trader works with the CQG and OEC order routing systems. Vankar uses the OEC order routing system so this will be a great solution for anyone looking to use Vankar as their broker.

If you have any questions about the integration contact IRT or MD and I am sure someone will be happy to help.

I ... Lifetime membership
... Volume Profile. (aka Market Profile)

MarketDelta and IRT do not offer lifetime license because they both license the CBOT Market Profile graphic directly from the CME Group. This requires the companies to have to remit fees to the CME Group each month. Of course they could try to circumvent this by not registering or paying for the Market Profile trademark, but MarketDelta and IRT have taken the high road in respecting the intellectual property of the owner. Because of this they are required to remit fees for each license that has Market Profile enabled and thus not able to sell lifetime licenses.

Regarding the license, does it mean anyone that wants to develop a tool that looks like a Volume or TPO profile needs to get a license from the CME? Or is it just a marketing consideration? I mean is it just the designation "Market Profile" that is protected or the whole idea of representing price as a bell curve? I am asking this as i would like to know how a vendor such as Rancho Dinero can sell his product(s) wihout incurring any legal penalties?

@MD Trevor,

I like the MD DoM but not sure about the plain footprint chart. Is it possible to detach the DoM and use it as a stand alone along side MD's standard footprint chart that allows one to add other indicators such as value channels, etc.? Or are there plans to enhance the attached footprint chart capabilities?

Thanks,
PB

Yes PB, in the near future there will be functionality to "put away" the plain footprint so you can just use the DoM alongside the MD's Standard Footprint (or any other chart) and indicators.

I'm using Rancho Dinero, coming from a long time with IRT. It's really good.

I'm sure it's a trademark issue.

Market Profile is a CME trademark as Footprint is a MD trademark. If you want to use their name you need to pay the fee.

Look at Sierra. For Market Profile they called it TPO, for Footprint they called it Numbers Bars and for Volume Profile they called it Volume by Price. The end result is the same but the names are different, so, no trademark fees.

If I become half a percent smarter each year, I'll be a genius by the time I die

Any new feedback on this a couple years on? I'm looking at all these products as well as others providing order flow analytics.

Personally I prefer the option of having a lifetime licence, as it can be a fixed cost that can be recouped rather than adding another monthly outlay on top of data and other fees. But that's not ruling any options out at this point :-)

Linn Software has had the same development team in place for over 18 years. That development team is putting just as much effort into improving the product in February 2014 as it did in February 1996, although now armed with a great deal more knowledge and experience. Every month, we add more value to the product. Every month, we react to changes in underlying technologies to keep the product humming along optimally. We anticipate this will still be the case in 10 years, 20 years. We don't have a "finished product" to sale you a lifetime license to, we have a continually improving product. That's one of the reasons we use a monthly pricing model. This month, you're paying for one product, next month, you're paying for a better product, and in April, even better. The product in April 1998 would be of no value to you today, so that lifetime license wouldn't be much of a "lifetime". If we tried to put a price on our product today, we would have to factor in future development and that is very difficult to forecast. I think the monthly pricing model is very healthy on both ends: it motivates the trader to cover his monthly costs and it motivates the developer to keep making the product better due to constant reliance on the monthly leases. A lifetime license is something we tried long ago. It just did not work for us and we've been very happy with the monthly pricing model for a long time. We've been doing this a long time and don't plan on stopping, and we just feel that paying monthly works best all the way around. If we had spent a year hiring someone to develop something for us, and then wanted to sale our finished product, it would be different. But the development team will be hard a work today making the product better.
