NewsGuard

This is an utility application which I wrote to keep me out of the markets when there is major news coming out (alarm sound). It is so damn easy to forget while you are heavily scalping the markets

The application can download the latest news file (must be done at least once a week) from the DailyFx.com site and you can edit the news file to include your own news. You can minimize it to the system tray so it does not allocate your screen space. If you edit the news file remember to run the download again but answer "No" to the question so the app will use the existing/edited one.

How to install:
Create a folder and unzip the files to it.

How to run:
Run the NewsGuard.exe in the folder you just created (working directory must be the same). This is virus free !

Many thanks and congratulation for this tool. I was looking for something similar

Unfortunaly, i have not succed to have it run on my pc

I use Windows 7 64

The program does'nt read the Newfile.

I have set it up to : ttp://www.dailyfx.com/calendar Error Cannot read news file

Thanks for this utility!

If you are baving trouble running this on Win7, try running NewsGuard as "administrator".

Go to the directory where you unzipped the newsguard application and other files.

Right click on the newsguard application icon.
Sselect "Send->". then to desktop (create shortcut).

Right click on the new desktop icon, select "properties", then "advanced" and check the checkbox to run as administrator.

Thanks for this great tool! However, dailyfx csv file sometimes have the currency codes in small letters e.g. "usd" instead of "USD". In such case your program cannot capture the corresponding event in the alarm.
