Is anybody using MetaTrader v5 in live trading? It's been around for a while but not very many brokers support it. Why? When will they?

Yes, there is some doubts in brokers' mind for MetaTrader v5 and most of the brokers are well familiar with Meta Trader 4 therefore they are not switching to MT5.

MT5 doesn't allow hedging. It will only hold one position of the same currency.

MT4 does allow hedging. You can hold multiple positions of the same currency, including both long and short simultaneously.

It is my understanding that hedging is not allowed in the US and that it is everywhere else. If you are not in the US MT4 is preferred because hedging is a very useful function. Sometimes you want to be holding two positions of the same currency and when you do it's better to keep the trades entirely separate with different entries, stops and targets.

I think this is the main reason that traders outside of the US do not tend to move to MT5.

Cheers Rach
