I have seen the Pace of tape indicator in the download section, and I am a big fan. I also like the Pace of tape indicator I have seen used by School of trade. Despite the many criticisms of school of trade I happen to quite like his pace of tape indicator and I am hoping to build one similar to it. His algorithm seems to be quite good, and slightly different from cunparis' version (which is also excellent). I have no experience scripting in ninja and I was wondering if you guys might be able to help me get started. Results and versions will be posted on this forum obviously making it a for us by us tool. So, experts lay it one me. Thanks.
Preliminary thoughts:
Method 1: Perhaps a threshold number for average ticks in any 10 second period can be gathered from historical data, and used as a benchmark to compare number of ticks in the current 10 second period. if I can figure out a way to program ninja to count ticks in 10 second bars. Moving averages and smoothing can be applied to the end series to give an indication of speed in an organized colored barchart output.
Method 2: Comparing times between ticks. This method seems less likely to work as during fast markets the same time stamp will appear on many trades. It would also be taxing computationally.

This is my first post not sure if I am doing this right but here is my question. Using the Pace of Tape. Does anyone know why the Pot High and Pot Low would split on the same candle. The tic is set to 400, High Pot is set to 800 , 30 sec. The histogram will show both High and Low as being true, so the histogram is split in half for that candle and it will not paint the candle based on hitting the high Pot.
