Just curious.... what does Universal Renko look like? And... how to get it?

Just looks like any renko bar, except that there are parameters for where the Open of the bar is placed, how many ticks up will close the bar up, and how many ticks in the opposite direction will close the bar down. So, you get a flexible type of bar that, based on the user specified input, the bar can look like a Regular Renko, HybridRenko, Channel Renko, Tick Reversal Bar, Range bar, anything you want.

Yes, I tried that, but nothing appeared in the DataSeries drop down. What I did was rename the file to MedianRenkoBarsType.cs, zip it into a zip file named MedianRenkoBarsType.zip with the file .cs file in the \type directory, import it, restart NT, and it appeared in the data series list. Maybe I did something wrong using the other procedure. That was my process in case anyone else encounters the same issue.

Thanks. I had the exact same problem and the zip and import process worked for me.

Move the attached ".cs" file to your: Documents/NinjaTrader/Bin/Custom/Type folder (as this is a BAR TYPE).

Then shutdown NinjaTrader.

Then restart Ninjatrader.

It should then show up in your DataSeries list along with Minute, Tick, Range, etc. (right click on any chart & pull down to DataSeries or hit CTRL+F).

to TheWizard or anyone else who can answer this,

Does the median renko listed here for NT7 have internal daily consistency (meaning the bars automatically reset on open of a new session and are therefore always accurate)?
0r does it need to be updated to be correct on a daily basis or whenever the computer is turned on?

thanks in advance very much for the reply.

I do not recommend using MedianRenko bars anymore. They have a bug & do not work properly. I have been using Rjay's RenkoHybrid for 3+ years. If you want something far superior go here : NinjaTrader Indicators And Bar Charts | Innovative Trading Solutions

theWizard,

Thanks for the really fast and insightful heads up on the superior median renko bars found in Rjay's RenkoHybrid bars website.
Just out of curiosity, will the old original median renko that you posted automatically reset on open of a new session, or do you have to do it manually?

Once again, thanks alot for all of your wisdom and help to us on the forum.

To the best of my recollection, I never had to do anything to them. I kept my chart set at 24/7.
