I used NT for about a month, ending 2 weeks ago. I loved all of the indicators that were available for it. BUT I spent way too much time emailing back and forth with their tech support team.

I've been using Sierra Charts without any issues at all now for about 3 weeks.

1) How long have you been using NinjaTrader?
For about 6 years.

2) What are your favorite features of NinjaTrader?
it can do candles real good, and The support.

3) What are some must-have deal breaker features in NinjaTrader that you could not do without?
Better Point and Figure charts. Except, they consider this, the OLDEST form of charting, as an "Exotic."

4) Do you use NinjaTrader in simulation mode only, or do you place live trades with it?
I use it for live trading only.

5) Are you a discretionary trader or an algorithmic trader?
Discretionary trader

How does NinjaTrader help you with this?
The best way to put it is that Ninja is the Kernel for "Plug-Ins" The Plug-in sophistication is quickly stripping Ninja of the center stage.

6) How easy/hard was it for you to learn to use NinjaTrader?
Relatively easy - they have a good library of recorded self-help videos and good support.

7) How do you rate NinjaTrader's customer service/support, assuming you have needed to use it?
I use it almost everyday. Their support is intense and extremely focused.

8) Do you believe NinjaTrader is competitively priced?
When you take into account the fact that $995 is just the beginning of the cost, may be may be not, depending of the plug-ins you buy. Unless you are a candle trader and can write your own set of scripts for indicators (Ninja has a minimum set and it does not include things like the VWAP).

9) How do you rate the community support that exists for NinjaTrader?
The Forum works.

My 2c.

1) How long have you been using NinjaTrader?

Have been trying out demo for a few months, but executing elsewhere

2) What are your favorite features of NinjaTrader?

OCO and trade management, trading from the chart features, third party support/tools (such as futures.io (formerly BMT)), its free to play with! - many good things

3) What are some must-have deal breaker features in NinjaTrader that you could not do without?

Bid/Ask historical back-filling - that's why I'm not using it now. Also the back-testing feature and c# accessibility is very nice. Finally the rich support from it being widely used.

4) Do you use NinjaTrader in simulation mode only, or do you place live trades with it?

Simulation for back-testing and analytics, however I plan on using it for execution as its functionally rich for everything you'd need, except perhaps for me missing the ability to see volume at price on the DOM (coming in NT8 so they say).

5) Are you a discretionary trader or an algorithmic trader? How does NinjaTrader help you with this?

Discretionary right now, simply to be adaptable to market conditions (as I require), but generally both.

6) How easy/hard was it for you to learn to use NinjaTrader?

Not immediately intuitive for me but it grows on you quickly and is very easy to use in the end.
7) How do you rate NinjaTrader's customer service/support, assuming you have needed to use it?

Ok, they are quick to respond how ever not the most specific in feedback, I've found futures.io (formerly BMT) forum responses are much richer, as I'd expect from hands-on users.

8) Do you believe NinjaTrader is competitively priced?

Yes the price point means they make the software accessible to individuals and vendors that's why their's is a big community.

9) How do you rate the community support that exists for NinjaTrader?
futures.io (formerly BMT) is awesome for anyone thinking about NT. Says it all.

Thanks,

Sand.
