I some how screwed up my charts. It suddenly stopped displaying range bars. So, I uninstalled NT and reinstalled and it still has the same problem. Any ideas?
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
Well, I've figured it out. I guess dumb on my part. I use IB as a data provider and as I understand from NT support, they do not provide tick data. So, that said, would someone like to recommend an inexpensive data provider? Thanks for your help.
For stocks, I have just one recommendation: DTN IQfeed. Mention futures.io (formerly BMT) and they should waive any setup fees (I do not get paid for this, just fyi). Really IQFeed is the best data feed for stocks or futures, but when dealing with equities your options are more limited (ie: Zen Fire doesn't support equities).
I think you can't go wrong with IQfeed. Also, mention to them when you sign up that you want to get the "fee waiver" price, it will lower your monthly price by quite a bit, they will just need your broker to confirm you are using NinjaTrader.
For real-time data they use compressed ticks. It is possible to record the IB real-time data of NinjaTrader and you can gradually fill your charts with ticks. However, once you disconnect, you cannot reload the data of the period during which you were not connected.
