1. survived a heart attack and double pneumonia
2. Almost finished with a degree i've been working on for a long time....will finish spring 2014
3. finally became consistently profitable.
4. Lost 30 pounds....I had to for my heart health.
5. Reversed all my bad cholesterol numbers in less than 90 days and have kept them reversed.

There are others but those are the ones that come to mind right away this early in the morning.

Brian,

Huge congratulations on all fronts! Regarding the weight loss, briefly what diet changes did you make?

quit smoking several days ago--am now vaping--its awesome. sitting and staring at charts and focusing really had me reaching for that tobacco more and more.... problem abruptly solved as vaping replaces that need perfectly.

Congrats. I wish my mom would quit. She was diagnosed with emphysema 15 years ago and yet still won't stop.

If nothing else, I'm still alive! Thank God. I've come close to death a few times in the last year.

I've made progress with trading and came to many truths about who I am and what I want to do with my life.

I finally traveled from coast to coast and met someone special.

Boy 2014 really came around quick though.

Was the coast to coast in a single vacation?

What does your special someone think of your trading?

Has she tried e cigs?? it is very different from patches or gum. Its worth a try. Can't just let her try any old e-cig she should try a high performance e-cig with top quality juice. BTW does she want to quit?? I mean has she tried??

Brian, regarding your heart attack I'm sure you view the aftermath as a new lease on life.

I'm viewing Ecuador as the same, a new lease on life, a chance to break some old habits and create some new memories and friends. I imagine you probably view your life in new ways post-emergency.

Brian,

It was pretty simple. I did a lot of research about different things and I kept seeing sugar as a culprit. So I eliminated sugar along with all its derivatives. Anything that ended in "ose". Anything with syrup including those nice new vegan sounding "pure came or pure rice syrup or really anything at all that sounded like sugar.

This was tough but not impossible. I even found bread with no sugar in it.

Secondly I got rid of most of the red meat. Replaced it with turkey and chicken but even that has been reduced quite a bit.

And lastly, got rid of most fried food.

That's it. I did and still do some walking but not as much as I should. The heart docs recommend an hour a day of brisk walking as the bed over all exercise for the heart and that's on my 2014 list as well.

I've eaten sugar around the holidays but in very small quantities and I've only gained 2 pounds since thanksgiving.

I'm investigating the Mediterranean diet now on the advice of my heart doc as a long term eating solution.

Hope that helps.

Indeed, although in some ways I've had a hard time adjusting to the idea my heart is damaged and I need to work hard to fix it.

Mostly though its been a wake up call to simplify life and live in the moment. Enjoy whatever or whoever is currently present. And that is harder the further removed from the incident I become. So I focus on that as a life goal and that helps keep me centered on the present.

Yes she uses those all the time. No she doesn't really want to quit.

You should look into juicing. I've done as juice fast a few times and really enjoyed it. You don't need to fast, just try to incorporate a juice or two into your day. Amazing health benefits. I'm talking about juicing vegetables not fruits. Kale, cilantro, parsley, all kinds of good stuff that is amazing for cleansing.
