Best way to take away the insomnia for me is making a couple of hours of sport during the day.
I try to do a couple of hours cycling every end of morning so I divide the day between european session and US session.
I do not think that's very healthy do sit down all the day in front of pc screens
Now I began also to run little a little I do not want to have injuries; the nice thing about cycling is right that very difficult to have injuries

Until you're hit by a car. I cycled alot last year in prep for the Tour De Cure for diabetes. Was able to get out to a century but had several accidents and even went through one idiot's back window. Never got hurt on my own, it was always someone else running into me causing the accident.

I know a few natural and not natural things, if you're still up.

Several people have advised exercise to help my lack of sleep. Been running since high school, and now my right knee is shot. Now I do a heavy bag martial routine fro about 20 minutes, gets the heart rate going much faster and more sustained then running, with less risk of joint injuries. Gonna have to also get the mountain bike out and hit the single track trails off road again. Cycling on the streets scares me to death.

I'm with Monpere. I do run and go to they gym but twice a week I pop down the local Muay Thai school.

A warm up followed by 6 or 7 x 3 minute rounds with a 1 minute rest between is a lot harder than it sounds. Certainly, you don't need to do many hourse per day of exercise if you train at this kind of intensity. Plus - my wife has stopped beating me up now I can punch harder.

I'm old... I don't do anything... and I don't even start that until after lunch ....

I'm just a simple man trading a simple plan.

General thoughts and research on insomnia, not necessarily directed to the original poster.

As a trader one has to ask oneself what is the real cause of the insomnia.

Has this been a problem I had before I started trading?

If this problem started when trading started, why is that?

====================================================================

Excerpt from wikipedia:

... insomnia is often defined as a positive response to either of two questions: "Do you experience difficulty sleeping?" or "Do you have difficulty falling or staying asleep?"

Insomnia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

There is much more at the link above to give one a good start at understanding the subject.

=====================================================================

A general statement, which everyone knows, is don't take caffeine within, let's say, 8 hours of bedtime.
For some (most?) people, I would also say the same for physical exercise. This releases adrenaline
(ie. epinephrine) which will also hinder a good sleep.

A few herbs are also somewhat stimulating. Cayenne pepper is one.

=====================================================================

A few thoughts about why trading itself might cause insomnia. Others can certainly add from their
own personal experiences.

If there is a lack of consistency in ones trading profits, I would think that this roller coaster emotional
ride of stress while the trade is on, followed by relief (if a profit) or disappointment (if a loss) will result in
a low level of constant stress. I would encourage more reading at the link below;.../Stress_(biology)

=====================================================================

Acute stressors affect an organism in the short term; chronic stressors over the longer term.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stress_(biology)
=====================================================================

Workplace stress is the harmful physical and emotional response that occurs when there is a poor match between job demands and the capabilities, resources, or needs of the worker.

Stress-related problems include mood disturbance, psychological distress, sleep disturbance, upset stomach, headache, and problems in relationships with family and friends.

My experience with an over the counter sleep drug that actually works here:

Doxylamine succinate 25mg (that is, unisom) available under the Equate brand at Wal-Mart will work.
It causes depression, as just about every sleeping pill will. See the links below from the Mayo clinic.

If you really really have to, Doxylamine succinate 25mg can be taken once or maybe twice a calendar week,
being sure there is at least a 72 hour separation between the two tablets. Taking this everyday will cause
the body to adapt and it won't work. I know this from my personal experience.

Lunesta, Rozerem, Halcion, Sonata, Ambien, Edluar, Restoril, Ambien CR, all mention depression.
They don't/won't say it's a side effect of course.

=====================================================================

I found this yesterday. It's a long read and I haven't read it. More about sleeping pills and sleep
over multiple pages.

Chapter 1 - The Dark Side of Sleeping Pills, an eBook by Daniel F. Kripke, MD.

=====================================================================

Natural things that should help but (probably) won't:

Alcohol equivalent of 2 beers. No one anywhere recommends this. I don't recommend this.
Be sure NOT to take alcohol with a sleeping pill. It is also not recommended to take alcohol simultaneously
with certain natural supplements.

I trust VRP from the quality standpoint, so I'll mention their products now. I don't trust their claims.
I don't receive any financial compensation from them.

Herbal Sleep - 90 Capsules - Vitamin Research Products

Melatonin - Sleeping Supplement - VRP.com

5-HTP, 5-Hydroxytryptophan - Vitamin Research Products

Also inositol has a very slight effect from my experience. It is not listed in their 'sleep aids section'
but is reasonably safe. There are different supplements with the word 'inositol' in the title. You would want
product #1252 from VRP, if you go with them.

Inositol - 650 mg, 90 Capsules - Vitamin Research Products
===================================================================

Hope this helps some. I don't have all the answers in this matter.

I'll bet if you take out $5000 a day out of the futures market you'll sleep like a puppy
