Webinar: TopstepTrader on Post-Trade Analysis and Improvement
It is my pleasure to welcome back TopstepTrader for a webinar presentation on Wednesday, March 27th @ 4:30 PM ET.
The presenters are John Hoagland and Andre McHugh:
John Hoagland - Director of Scouting at TopstepTrader
John Hoagland is a 30-year trading veteran and is currently the Director of Scouting at TopstepTrader. Beginning his career as a runner, John worked his way up to become a proprietary trader and then a self-funded “local” trader and broker on the floor of the CME and CBOT. Early on, John traded agricultural products but his main focus now is Equity Indices and Crude Oil futures. John's primary analysis for trading is based on Market Profile and reading order flow when prices trade at levels seen as areas of previous acceptance and rejection of price. With a long family history in the trading business, John is serious about his profession and takes great pride in helping others become successful and profitable traders.
Andre McHugh - Director of Trader Development at TopstepTrader
Andre McHugh’s trading experience began on the CBOT floor in 2001, where he was a clerk for Independent Floor Traders in the Soybean futures pit. Andre continued clerking at the CBOT over the next four summers until earning his undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of Kansas.
Andre’s career in trading began at a proprietary firm in 2006. After finishing an intensive nine-week market and trading course, he traded in a simulated environment before moving on to live trading and demonstrating consistent profitability. In February of 2007, Andre was signed on with the Proprietary Trading Firm and he has been profitable every year since.
Today, Andre continues to trade, but also specializes in evaluating trader metrics and understanding the current market and how it relates to trading strategies. He is currently TopstepTrader’s Director of Trader Development.
I happened to catch most of it. The material was very relevant. I liked the spreadsheet idea.
Kinda ironic because they had a live webinar recently on their site that I wasn't real happy with.
The content from this one will help everyone get better.
Just my thoughts...
dougl
I caught most of it live and just listened to the rest. Nothing especially new, but I thought it was well presented, and it's good to get some different perspectives.
And it was interesting to hear Hoag was so skeptical of scaling out, given the currency of FT71's view. Good discussion you had with them afterward.
One thing to keep in mind about that statistical study FT71 showed, Mike, is that it was based on a very specific trade setup and his own historical trade data. So I don't know if his findings can be generalized for other traders and other trade setups. I think even FT would say that if you know you're in a tight range and the probability of a breakout is very low, and all-out approach is going to make more sense.
