Hi vvhg,

I stopped updating this because it was too much work to modify it to suit my needs each time, and I was focused on other ways of analyzing my trades.

I just downloaded the latest version and it looks very impressive. For those who like or need to tinker, would it be possible for to set it up so that we could delete or add rows to the Journal without messing up all the calculations?

- futuretrader

Everything is possible, the sheets are protected, but dont have a password. Though it is rather easy to mess things up...
Could you provide some more details of what you want to do? I'm pretty sure we can either implement something or I could point you into the right direction of how to do stuff yourself without breaking anything.

Ok,

new version ready. You can test it now.

It now supports the appending to the existing file. I had some time between running backtests so I could do that one feature...

Enjoy

Question about your Utility
1. I presume this is mostly for moving back testing results to the Journal, but any exported trades would be OK
2. this was developed for NT, will any CSV file work (from Sierra Chart) - do I need to know the order and format of the fields in the file so that my Sierra Chart export matches what your program expects?
3. is there a Readme for this utility

Yes the utility can work for any exported trade from NinjaTrader
If the csv is essentially the same format as the one from NT, there is no reason, why it should not work. I will post the columns and the order. The only thing that could cause problem is the date and number formatting. If Sierra formats it differently the the utility won't be able to parse.

Perhaps sending some example from Sierra Charts might shed some light on the subject.

Hi I would love to start using Journal v4.0 but I am not getting it. How do I get my trade record out of ninja and into the journal. I kinda get the export ninja-trader Grid, but where do I go from their?

Thank you for your hard work and explanations.

You would have to use @petrmacs importer to do get the .csv into the journal. The journal itself has no import function other than migrating from an older version of the journal.
The importer is pretty easy to use, just play around with it as there is mo readme yet...

@petrmac, in post#2 I have added a link to the latest version of the importer. Could you please update the link when you upload new versions or other stuff that should be referenced there?

It would be great if you could post a brief readme, i believe most stuff is probably already somewhere in your posts, but it would be great to have it in one place....thanks in advance.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the update - that is all I needed to know, if I want, I would need to try to make Sierra Chart CSV match NT

First I would like to thank you all the people that contribute to this fantastic trading journal tool! Excellent job.

I would like to ask some help for the following: for the Forex instruments which values should I consider as "Point Value" and "Tick Value" in the Instrument List tab?

I tried different values but the Efficiency Exit is always 0% on a profit trade.

Thank you,
