Hello,
I currently trade the ES mini and was thinking of maybe trading another symbol instead. Since there are times when the ES takes forever to setup a trade. I wanted to know if crude oil was easier then ES and faster?
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
Does the fact CL is faster mean it is more difficult or as you save mental energy by not passing all of your time waiting for a setup makes your life as a trader easier ? This week CL is about 14.5 times more profitable than the ES. That means if you miss an opportunity or if you lose once you can get another clear cut oppotunity a few minutes later. ES is much tougher to trade this week than CL.
crude is fast but if u know its behave u can make very good money best way to trade in crude is scalping my stop loss is 20 tick and profit is 10-20 tick u can see here my today trades i made $1000 with one lot total trades 14 account size is 3500
ES is always tough to trade because it is a back-n-fill market. CL is more of a breakout market and the moves are volatile because of a lack of liquidity compared to ES, which is the most liquid instrument. This doesn't make CL any easier to trade. It simply means there are different risk/reward characteristics to these markets.
Trading CL for 2:1 risk/reward or 1:1 will guarantee failure over the long run.
I don't see ES as more difficult. I trade CL primarily but still view ES as one of the best instruments out there. Gap plays, opening ranges, and TICK plays make ES one of the most technically sound products available to trade. It should be a staple of every futures' traders portfolio.
