Can anyone give me an explanation of futures tick charts, or point me to a thread/link, and the advantages/disadvantages of using them?

Hi Martifc
A 'tick' is a trade - it can be 1 contract or 100 but it is still one tick. So a 1000 tick bar shows the range made up of the last 1000 trades.

There's no inherent advantage of any chart type IMO - its just a matter of what appeals to you.

But some argue that range and tick charts are neater because they show price independent of time.
