Trader Duck

I love my New Day Job!
I retired from working at Pump Station #4 on the Alyeska Pipeline in '09 and started studying Technical Analysis full time. The brokers lost every penny I gave them so I knew I had to invest for myself. In the first six months I realized I already knew more about trading than any of the brokers. They don't study much and not the right stuff. I read almost all of the articles under the Chart School Tab on the stockcharts.com website. It is the encyclopedia of trading; highly recommended it. Then I found Nexgen. Quack! Because I had already read so many of the top shelf books on Technical Analysis, I could see right away how powerful the Nexgen system was. You might say they had me at "Hey, try this". In my continued study I have found how to optimize their software beyond what they teach. However, I play a lot of internet blitz chess at The Internet Chess Club (ICC). These quick games that last only a couple of minutes have made me somewhat of an action junkie; not a good habit as a trader. So, I'm doing the "in the zone" training so this dog will stop chasing cars....er, I mean price. So I changed my log in name from "Bad Dog" the tire biter to "Trader Duck". Hope this helps. Quack! Trading is my favorite video game.Do ya love it or what? Ya gotta love it.

i do hope you would watch out carefully for your favorite video game--TRADING,

so you would not have to continuously be feeding it too long and endlessly.

and do hope you would also treat this video game cash dispenser with due respect as well.

without any warning, your best set and best tested out setups will chew you up and spit you out without mercy.... as well.... LOL

anyway, wishing you the best in your video game cashing out....

Dear all,
My name is Jack.
I have joined futures.io (formerly BMT) for about 2 weeks now, there are just so much information, experience and knowledge for me to pick up! What a great forum! I want to thank Mike for putting this together. Despite my previous role of trading for banks, it's a totally different ball game while trading all PA now.
In a short 12 months, I have been frustrated, depressed, confused by a neg PNL, then sometimes enlightened by a positive PNL. The cycle goes round and round. I am pretty sure that this is a similar story for many of us. I hope I can find some confidence back in trading and finding trading methods which gives a good odd.
I am not a programmer; at least I haven't programmed anything since college days. Perhaps I should pick up programming again so i can contribute more here.

big mike is alike a big 7/11 store where everything is practically self-service, except that you do not have to pay at the cashier.

but you do have to walk around to find what you want and what you really need.

i do not know whether any trader here, sim or otherwise, would have time to take you around the store.

everyone is pretty much trying to learn just how to trade with profitability.

perhaps, if you can not find any article you need, you can post and ask. i am sure someone will jump out to help you out. ok?

have fun and enjoy learning how to trade profitably.... soon.

jack, very sympathetic with what you went thru, wish everyone did not have to go that route and routine.

from where i am, i say you need to take a good look at your TRADING PLAN before anything else. and i do not mean the kind of trading plan that says--i want to make as much money as i can and as soon as i can.... LOL

that is not the trading plan that most of us use for trading here. it is more like a wish list of sort.

search out 'trading plan' and you'll find out exactly what a trading plan should constitute, k?

if you feel comfortable to share YOUR OWN TRADING PLAN with us, many profitable traders here, am sure, when they are not trading would be happy to lend you a hand.

3 - tell me a bit about yourself, your purpose for choosing this method for making money over another, and your goals for this endeavor.

A few things you need to accept:
This is going to take time.
You are going to have to do some serious study and work.
You will need to keep accurate records and meet statistical performance minimums.
