Hi,

Does anyone move out data from large intraday data files? If so, then what settings do you use, how does it affect performance when loading etc., and what happens when you initially check the box? Thank you.

I have several files over 2GB and 3GB in size, never noticed any kind of performance problem. I load about 3 years of data in several of my charts.

Right now I have no limits, but incremental backups take forever, that's why I was considering going to limited files sizes. I think I'll give it a try this afternoon.

I use:
Macrium Reflect FREE Edition - Information and download

and iDrive:
Online Backup for PC, Mac and iPhone | IDrive

I use iDrive daily for incrementals to the cloud, and then create a full image weekly. I am backing up 200GB and the full image takes less than 30 minutes to a remote server on my network using maximum compression.

Whatever you are using for incrementals probably doesn't support delta blocks if it is taking a long time.

Backing up to my other computer using SyncToy wireless G style baby! That's how I roll. Only takes about 90 minutes for 4-5 gigs.

I use BackupPC on a Linux VM at home for local backup and BackBlaze for my off-site backups. BackBlaze is awesome.

I tested this and what it does is halve the files once they exceed the maximum designated file size and you restart SC. So if a file is 1.2 gigs and max file size is 250 mb, then after restarting 3 times you end up with eight 150 mb files. It doesn't just start a new file in real time once you hit the 250 mb limit. It's a little screwy.
