Wanted to start a thread on the Multicharts Backtesting Results and Ratings for educational purposes.
To rate results 1 to 100 , 100 is best. What is a perfect backtest? What is Junk? .
Curious as to the many interpertations can be viewed by different traders.
Is the glass half full or is it half empty?
Keeping it simple , Rate the Main Average and 3 Sub Fundamentals of the report.
1. Strategy Analysis : rate 1 to 100
2. Trade Analysis : rate 1 to 100
3. Periodical Analysis : rate 1 to 100
-------------------------------------------------------------
Rate each Category.
Total the 3 and divide by 3 for a Main Average.
Post a reply with the Keyword Title "rating and the main average", ie "RATING of 62", for search purposes.
Within the body we have the ratings of the Main Average and 3 fundamentals of the report.
ie ;
Main Average 38.33

At a Minimum, as time is valuable, to Review the Overall Average with comment.
posting the backtest best in the excel format generated by Multicharts as it is detailed
yet screen shots of the fundamentals may give some quick insight.
When posting a Multicharts backtest for review set the title to:
1. Strat test ID "red ruby 1".
2. Ticker "SPY or whatever" .
3. Time frame "2 years"
4. Per Trade amount in shares, contracts or $currency "$5000". average on multi trade turn arounds.
5. Profit / Loss "profit $2550".
A thought on the Strat Test ID strat name is to add a sequence number to help track updates. ie; Red Ruby 1 , Red ruby 2 and so on.
I have a sample i will post following the initiation of this thread.
The idea behind this is to generate insight and catch oversight.
The Sample Backtest to be posted will be
ID: Harmonic 1 , Ticker: SPY , Time: 6 Months, Per Trade: 20k, Profit $3577.
