TTM Squeeze Indicator sames as Bollinger squeeze here?
is the TTM Squeeze Indicator sames as Bollinger squeeze here or Ninja? Are the signals given in TTM not seen in this squeeze, even the one developed by Roonius
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
The Bollinger Squeeze should be the same as the TTM squeeze. Both indicators show, when the Bollinger Bands are inside the Keltner Channels. You can play around a little with the settings (type of EMA, multipliers for average true range and standard deviation, period).
The TTM squeeze shows up, when the standard deviation ( = higher time frame volatility) is relatively small compared to the average true range (= lower time frame volatility). So it identifies an increased probability for a breakout to occur. Carter then uses a short period momentum indicator to enter a trade. The problem of this indicator is that it will folllow false breakouts as well. So to use it, you need a trendfilter and volume analysis to avoid the bull and bear traps that are often part of a final flag.
Any trading range that develops over something like 10 bars also is a squeeze. If you see such a trading range on your price chart you do not need the indicator!
I like this indicator because the histogram helps me follow the direction of momentum and shows when it starts to wear off. It is not perfect (as no indicator is), but I tweaked out some formulas so I could use it for the MB Trading platform. it is very simple, one color and is good enough to give you the general idea.
(bbasis(close,20,2,t,,) and keltupr(close,20,1.5,t,,)) <=0 = chande(12,26,,) and
(bbasis(close,20,2,t,,) and keltlwr(close,20,1.5,t,,)) >0 = chande(12,26,,)
@shipolito: The TTM squeeze is a pretty simple indicator. The squeeze is on when the Bollinger Bands are inside the Keltner Channels and is off otherwise. It is an extremely simple indicator, which can be coded in a few minutes. Actually I have coded a version of this indicator, which is also known as Bollinger Squeeze. You can find it here.
LOL. Writing free indicators has nothing to do with a vendor status. Imagine that your wife earns money by running a restaurant. But at home she cooks for you and you don't have to pay ....
Here is a simple version of the Bollinger Band Squeeze indicator, …
I am not talking about colors, alerts and other fancy stuff, which can be added afterwards.
By the way John Carter has disclosed the settings in his book "Mastering The Trade", so you can check yourself that the formula is identical.
For more information on the squeeze, please see thread as per link above.
