They both are different tooling serving the same purpose, bookmap is specifically designed for order flow taking into consideration all available liquidity/pull/spoof/iceburgs/stopshunt etc. ninja marketdepth is poorman's orderflow tooling. it does work well with its own limitation. hope this helps you

I've used Sierra Charts and Ninja Trader for order flow tools and Market Depth.. I've found NinjaTrader to be lacking for utilizing many useful order flow tools/concepts. I also believe that because this is such a "niche" following they aren't interested in developing the platform to serve us. I have heard other traders comment favorably about "bookmap" for market depth for what its worth... "Jigsaw" got very favorable reviews and they've got really good tutorials/support for everything you mentioned. So if you are considering purchase of NT for orderflow - I'd say meh,
choose Jigsaw or Sierra Charts - but be ready for a steep learning curve. I haven't heard of anyone choosing bookmap for orderflow (no one I know anyway).

Sierra Charts does all three very well and its costs are reasonable (monthly) but, (there's always a but) the learning curve is comparable to TradeStation (my opinion). I'd say four to six months before I was comfortable in implementing the new indicator ideas I had - even then I had to borrow footprint setups from friends. But wow, the functionality of SC's footprint is outstanding. There's a "pullback" feature that lets you monitor trades going on now while charting 30 minute bars and on and on.

Having said all that I set up my NT8 6 months ago (because I own it) and because TopStep uses it with Rithmic data. Sierra Charts stopped using Rithmic. I'm only using a couple of bare bones order flow ideas to pass my combine. (nuff said)
