I'm curious to know which assets all of you consider to be "risk on" or "risk off" assets. From researching a bit I see stocks and crude oil to be widely considered to be risk on and government bonds and the Japanese yen to be risk off.

Sometimes I'll see copper to be risk on and gold to be risk off but they don't always seem to be consistent in that regard. Any other assets that you guys/gals would put into the risk on or risk off baskets?

Aussie Dollar and VIX are also good to monitor for Risk On/Off.

Yeah, those are good too. The VIX is pretty clear because it's so inversely correlated to stocks. Along with the Aussie I've seen the Canadian Dollar and New Zealand Dollar mentioned because they're all fairly correlated.

I just remembered this page from my forex trading days: https://www.fxstreet.com/technical-analysis/sentiment/risk-appetite

Might be useful.
